Location Services

On location, assisting with a simple dance studio shoot.

As part of my photography business, I offer what I refer to as location and production services.   Locations services is an extension of services born from the renting of my old studio. People needed to rent a studio for any number of shoots, but they also needed equipment they did not have and often a bit of coaching or consulting and other "grip" and lighting help. Just having a studio wasn't enough. Often a certain type of location itself is needed, or catering, or even hotels for a scheduled shoot, besides any equipment. I have provided all that to photographers and agencies in need. The production services side is more concerned with planning and helping work out the production of a shoot. For instance, helping arrange the video or cinema side for a commercial effort. Finding models and actors, or a top flight cinematographer and digital assistant. You might call it logistics.

A classic instance is my good friend and fellow photographer, Jola Wulf. She is an excellent photographer but leans to the portrait and newborn side of the business. She was approached buy a dance studio to take action and group shots, something very different for her. She wanted to do the job but lacked the equipment and coaching to help her with this shoot. She gave me a call and we worked it out. I provided all she needed and I must say, she did a great job. Thats the idea behind offering Location Services. Its helping other photographers, agency art directors or businesses accomplish their creative and revenue goals. I love to work behind the camera but as is the case often, someone may have retained a photographer already and now they are shooting locally, or want to, and don't have the resources to make it work. Yes, I charge a fee for this. You will pay for my experience, my equipment, and my travel if required. And for my or another studio or perhaps a location. But I do keep things reasonable and work within a production budget. It can be a simple one day two/four hour shoot or a 4 day event encompassing products, marketing and video infomercial work. I can make it happen. Every situation is different as are my fees, so give me a call. It never hurts to discuss your options.
